Apartment M3

Renovation of a 145 sqm apartment in Kolonaki, Athens.

The 145 sqm apartment is located in a building of 1964, that was originally designed by the architect Emmanuel Vourekas (1907-92 / Hilton Hotel, Megaron Athens and more). The building is in the central Kolonaki area with a northeast orientation overlooking Hilton hotel and Evangelismos park. The materials used for the building’s common areas, the way of organising the entrance’s elevations and the modern sense of design were reference points in our proposal.

As requested, we aimed at creating a fully renovated space that would meet the contemporary way of living and satisfy the residents’ housing needs, hence the absence of multiple subdivisions and the creation of an open-plan space with a kitchen. The new floor plan allows natural light to flow into the apartment, enables cross-ventilation and offers a certain amount of flexibility when it comes to spatial organisation according to the residents’ needs.

The apartment consists of a single living room, two en-suite bedrooms, guest wc and storage room. Undoubtedly, wood is the dominant material as seen in the oak floor that has been installed in all rooms as much as in the walnut wood furniture adorning the entire apartment while offering storage spaces.

With the use of natural materials, bespoke interior solutions and a sensibility for the existing structure, we created a spacious and cosy apartment with a calm and embracing interior for contemplation and private family life.
